The Role

We are looking for a Staff Engineer to be part of this amazing and fast – growing fintech. This candidate will be part of the leadership layer of teams responsibles for web-based applications (front and backend) PayClip’s core payment processing infrastructure. S/He will develop and experiment programs with different technologies. This person will be willing to experiment with new technologies to reach Clip customers, the role includes in the scope becoming the experts on content usage and customer insights. The successful candidate will lead a high performing productive applications development teams in designing and building business critical web-based applications that delight users, enable growth and reduce friction. S/he should thrive in a culture of decisions based on analytics, be able to step-back and communicate both the strategic and immediate implications on priorities. This candidate must have strong written and verbal communications skills in both English and Spanish and be willing to continue learning and loving technology.

What will I be doing?

1. Evaluating existing processes and procedures to identify areas that need optimization.
2. Assessing the efficiency of technologies, instruments, and equipment.
3. Building, setting up, and improving systems, procedures, and equipment.
4. Collaborating with the engineering team on prototype development.
5. Ensure all our services are being monitored and with the appropriate alarms setup.
6. Build Prototypes and Reports for solutions in ambiguous technical and product situations and to determine appropriate solutions.
7. Design, and build core features for existing products and the creation of new products.
8. Collecting and interpreting analytical and performance data, as well as preparing progress reports.
9. Ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
10. Keeping abreast of developments and innovation in the area of specialization.
11. Leverage industry best practices, tools, and infrastructure using Agile methodology.
12. Tactical backlog refinement in close collaboration with the Product Manager, Architecture, Engineering Manager and the Scrum team.
13. Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility.
14. Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers.

Ideal Candidate

1. Extensive knowledge of engineering processes, structural design, and system optimization.
2. Great organizational and time management skills.
3. Strong knowledge in technology such as Java/Python/NodeJS/SQL Server/MySQL/MongoDB/DynamoDB.
4. Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
5. Experience working with AWS/Cloud infrastructure, IP network management, routing, security.
6. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
7. Experience writing technical and business requirement documents.
8. Experience with Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
