The Role
We are looking for a Risk & Fraud Prevention Relationship & Strategy Sr Manager to be part of this amazing and fast-growing Fintech. At Clip this candidate must be an enthusiastic person with responsibility to deploy Risk & fraud Prevention strategies and capabilities to ensure delivery on approval rate and fraud loss targets while managing customer experience. This person should thrive in a culture of decision based on analytics, data driven and Data Science, be able to step-back and communicate both the strategy and immediate implications on priorities. This candidate must have strong written and verbal communications skills in both English and Spanish and be willing to continue learning and loving Risk, Fraud Prevention, Strategy, Analytics and Data Science.
What will I be doing?
- Develop and implement comprehensive fraud detection strategies, fraud analysis models and business rules that balance approval rate, fraud loss, and customer experience.
- Responsible for fraud prevention management with the main players (acquirers, issuers, brands), with the goal of improving the approval rate.
- Partner with Data Science, Engineering, Product, Operations, and Business teams to conceive, design, and monitor fraud strategies to mitigate fraud risk in the most precise manner possible; recommend which product features to build and why.
- Generation and monitoring of the main indicators of the area, and preparation of presentations to present to the management team
- Leads root cause analysis to identify opportunities to predict, prevent and mitigate risk within processes and performance.
- Identify risk factors and trends of potentially fraudulent activity utilizing technical data analysis and statistical interpretation.
- Identify gaps in current systems, policies and strategies and take actions to mitigate emerging fraud risks.
- Collaborate and partner with internal business stakeholders to promote fraud related awareness and effect change - through the coordination of fraud detection monitoring of system enhancements and trends.
Ideal Candidate
- At least 8 years of experience in fraud prevention and risk management with traditional and non-traditional payment companies.
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuary or Statistics and strong quantitative analytical experience, including background with statistical modeling & analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of card-not-present (CNP) and card-present fraud schemes in Mexico and Latin America, its risk prevention methods and the detection tools for all types of environments.
- Proven knowledge and experience in strategic consulting
- Experience leading high-performance teams and thrive with a high level of autonomy.
- Has a deep understanding of the payments landscape across all participants – merchant, acquirer, issuer and network.
- Highly proficient in data analysis tools like SQL, R, Databricks, looker, etc.
- Experience mitigating all types of fraud, not only related to payments, such as account takeover, phishing, online card testing, merchant fraud, buyer fraud, collusion, etc.
- Creative problem solver and team-focused; can synthesize information and make clear, concise recommendations on a course of action, and rally teams and stakeholders alike.
Technical Knowledge
- Proven knowledge in strategic consulting focused on risk management (risk and fraud prevention), in the financial industry (preferably in credit cards).
- Strong knowledge of payments and financial products and services industry in Mexico, including key players and trends.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to create clear and concise summary documents of ongoing processes and provide detailed instructions to team members.
- Ability to analyze complex situations and provide guidance, make recommendations, and/or escalate arising issues timely.
- Strong organization skills and ability to handle multiple projects efficiently in order to ensure projects are completed timely.
- Able to interact and communicate effectively with all management levels to assess business needs in a professional manner.
