The Role
We are looking for a Senior Manager to join our fast-growing fintech and lead a data-focused team supporting a newly established business unit while aligning with core products. The role involves co-developing data strategies with leadership, implementing governance frameworks, analyzing data for insights, and ensuring a scalable, robust data architecture.
The ideal candidate will foster a collaborative team culture, manage risk and compliance, and drive continuous improvement and innovation. They will oversee strategic business unit projects and contribute to sustained growth in a dynamic fintech landscape.
What will I be doing?
- Stakeholder Management: Act as a key liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders, collaborating with product, marketing, finance, and compliance teams to understand their data needs and deliver impactful solutions that align with business objectives.
- Team Leadership and Mentorship: Lead, develop, and inspire a team of data analysts, engineers, and scientists. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning while ensuring team goals are aligned with organizational objectives.
- Data Strategy Co-development: Co-define, with the leadership, and execute a data strategy that supports the goals of the Financial Services Business Unit and aligns with company objectives, providing clear direction to the data team under your leadership.
- Data Governance: Implement and enforce robust data governance policies to ensure data quality, integrity, privacy, and security. Collaborate with other Data Directors to align on standards, metadata management, and regulatory compliance.
- Data Analysis and Insights: Oversee the analysis of large datasets to uncover actionable insights, identify trends, and inform strategic decisions using advanced analytics, machine learning techniques, and data visualization tools.
- Data Architecture and Infrastructure: Partner with IT teams to design and maintain scalable, efficient, and future-proof data architecture and infrastructure, including database technologies, data warehouses, and cloud solutions.
- Data Engineering: Lead efforts to develop efficient and scalable ETL pipelines, data integration solutions, and data storage systems to support business and analytical needs.
- Risk and Compliance Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to data security, breaches, and regulatory non-compliance. Ensure robust security measures, disaster recovery plans, and adherence to industry standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation and continuous improvement across all data-related processes, leveraging emerging technologies and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.Key
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology
- 4+ years managing teams
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering teams.
Technical knowledge
1- Data Management:
- Understanding of database systems (relational databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Knowledge of data modeling techniques to design efficient and scalable databases.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and platforms such as Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake.
- Experience with data integration tools and techniques for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from various sources.
2- Data Analytics and Visualization:
- Ability to develop and interpret complex SQL queries for data analysis.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and data mining techniques.
- Experience with analytical tools and languages such as Python (with libraries like Pandas, NumPy, SciPy), R, or MATLAB.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or matplotlib/seaborn in Python.
3- Machine Learning and Predictive Analytics:
- Understanding of machine learning algorithms and techniques for predictive modeling, classification, clustering, and regression.
4- Big Data Technologies:
- Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
- Knowledge of cloud-based big data platforms like AWS or GCP.
- Understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes for deploying and managing big data applications.
5- Data Security and Compliance:
- Awareness of data security principles and best practices to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.
- Experience implementing security controls, encryption techniques, and access management policies.
6- Programming and Scripting:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java for developing data pipelines, applications, and automation scripts.
7- Software Development Lifecycle:
- Understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile or DevOps, and their application to data projects.
